Four assumptions about IT security that cost money

They come up in almost every first conversation, and each one sends budget to the wrong place.

These four assumptions come up in almost every first conversation. None holds up to scrutiny, and each one sends budget to the wrong place.

"Security costs a lot of money." The effort sits in operations, not in purchasing. A toolkit nobody ends up running is more expensive than an operation that works completely with few tools.

"New hardware brings security." The old server was rarely the problem. Configuration and operations are, in practically every mandate we've taken on.

"More tools mean more protection." Past a certain point, it reverses. Every additional tool generates alerts someone has to review. What nobody operates protects nobody either.

"Certificates prove security." A certificate shows that measures were applied, not how well. More on this in Comparable doesn't mean secure.

If you want to know where your budget would do the most for you: that's exactly what our assessment is for.
